Nesting is at once pausing and transforming somewhere; it both moves and is still, or perhaps ebbs toward equilibrium as a ripple toward rest. On the one hand, I've moved into a new apartment and enjoyed transforming it into my home. On the other, it felt like a stilling current, especially contrasted to the usual flux of being away from a home. With shows canceled and traveling postponed this year, I had the opportunity to confront this apparent dichotomy and nest.

This process of nesting - of reconstruction and of anchoring - inspired the muddled mechanistic sounds, looped and tamed by soaring melodic phrases. I uncovered this sonic landscape as I have painted my walls: with care and hazard. Here there is escape, refuge, and the chance for a fresh start.

This recorded solo performance scores the development of a true nesting place. From a blank canvas, we draw out the familiar elements that define us. We might experience things that seem completely alien to us, but they might also lead to a newfound comfort in what we will soon call home.
